What’s new
- Don’t guess, take a test.
Regular rapid response LFT testing is important to prevent spreading the virus to loved ones without knowing. One in three people with COVID do not have symptoms.
You can find the nearest place to get LFT test kits from on this page. If you test positive, please self-isolate and take a PCR test.
- Got symptoms? Isolate!
If you have symptoms, however mild, please isolate and take a PCR test.
- Simple things matter
Keep washing your hands throughout the day, using hand sanitiser. Consider wearing a mask in crowded spaces and where you can, stay socially distanced. Meet outside or let fresh air in you meet indoors. These are simple things to do and can really help.
Vaccinations
Please encourage friends, family and colleagues to get vaccinated. Make an informed decision for your child.
Get more information about vaccinations for different age groups and the booster vaccine on this page.
Self-isolation
If you are double-vaccinated or under the age of 18, you are not required to self-isolate if you are identified as a close contact of a positive COVID-19 case. Instead you are advised to take a PCR test.
If you’re worried about money because you’ve been asked to self-isolate, or you need to look after a child who is self-isolating, financial support is available via the Isle of Wight Council website.
Self-isolation can be very difficult especially if you have financial, work, family or mental health worries. Help is available via the Isle of Wight COVID-19 helpline on 01983 823600 or email [email protected]
Prevention
There are still many simple things we can all do to help stop the virus spreading:
- Meet outdoors where possible and let fresh air into homes or other enclosed spaces.
- Wear a face covering in crowded or enclosed spaces such as public transport.
- Keep washing hands regularly.
- Get two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. Find out how to get a vaccine.
- Keep taking regular rapid response LFT tests.
- Self-isolate and take a PCR test when you get symptoms.
- Self-isolate when asked to do so by NHS Test and Trace.
- Be kind and respectful of other people’s decisions.
