Parishes charge a parish precept to fund the parish council and activities they undertake on behalf of the local community. Each parish council must forecast how much money it is going to need in the following financial year. This is then divided by the number of properties in the parish in the same way as your IWC council tax is calculated.
Gurnard Parish Council is currently setting the budget for 2023-2024; councillors are intending to keep the precept at the same level as last year and have drafted the budget accordingly. It is your money that we are spending locally for the community and so we would like your view on our current proposals.
It is really important that as many Gurnard residents (the people who pay the precept!) as possible, respond to the consultation as councillors need to know they are making appropriate decisions on how to spend public money. The paper version will be distributed via Gurnard News, the QR code or the link given below will take you to a digital version of the consultation. You only need to complete one or the other! Boxes for returning paper consultations forms will be put out in central places in the village e.g. Village Hall and village shop etc. They will be collected prior to counting which will take place before the first GPC meeting in January 2023.
