Public Exhibition & Consultation
We are delighted to announce a public exhibition of proposals to redevelop the existing Gurnard Primary School
as part of the government’s Priority Schools Building Programme (PSBP). It is proposed to replace the existing
teaching facilities with a brand new 420 place 4-11 year old primary school and retained Nursery.
The Education & Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) is delivering the PSBP and has appointed Sir Robert McAlpine Ltd,
the main contractor, along with their design team, to deliver a vision for the school that is being developed
through consultation with the school, staff and governors alongside the expertise of the ESFA and their Technical
Advisors.
Full details will be on show at the exhibition with the team available to explain, discuss and listen to your views
The Proposal
A new two storey building for 420 pupils across seven year groups
Rationalisation of the existing site through the creation of a brand new dedicated primary school
building containing all learning and associated spaces under one roof
An upgraded standalone Nursery building with access to enhanced external space and DDA facilities
A flexible school layout to deliver a modern learning environment
New sports facilities and social space with a focus on commcommunity use
Associated external spaces to assist curriculum learning
Where to see it Thursday 7th June 2018 between 16.30 and 20.00 at Gurnard Primary School, Baring Rd, Cowes PO31 8DS. Please report to reception on arrival. Representatives from the ESFA and Sir Robert McAlpine will be present to help answer any of your questions.
