GURNARD PARISH COUNCIL REPORT FOR THE GURNARD NEWS APRIL EDITION
At the March meeting of the Parish Council the main topics discussed were:
POLICE REPORT
There were 6 reported crimes in Gurnard during January compared to 4 last year. No new community priorities have been set.
OPEN SPACES PROJECT
The Parish Council has approved £50.00 to pay for the volunteers from the Green Gym to cut and rake the flower Meadow.
PLANNING
A planning application in Albert Road was discussed by councillors. The application attracted 8 members of the public who wished to voice their views. The Parish Council has objected to this application on several grounds – please see the Isle of Wight Council website or Parish Council website for full details.
TOILET BLOCK ON THE GREEN
The toilet block was secured by a Tenancy at Will last April. Councillors are considering the report from the solicitor regarding the Freehold for the block. The Isle of Wight Council has not included the restrictions of the Village Green status and the covenants on the land – this must be included for future reference. The councillors are also asking IW Council for their intention with the water tap down on the promenade by the Beach Huts. This has not been included in the Freehold transfer documents, but is served by the water supply to the toilet block.
ANNUAL PARISH MEETING
This year, it will be held on Wednesday 26 April at 7.30pm. Recipients of Parish Council grants will be attending to advise how they spent their grant. Cheese and Wine, plus soft drinks will be available. This is your chance to see how the Parish Council has spent your precept and for you to add suggestions for topics or projects for councillors to consider during the year.
FUTURE PARISH COUNCIL MEETINGS
